Rental terms
La Colina (“Company”) provides gear rental services (“Rental Service”) to the customer (“User”) in accordance with the following terms and conditions (“Terms of Use”). By using this Rental Service, the User agrees to comply with all Terms of Use. Any matters not specified herein shall be governed by the provisions of the Civil Code of Japan.
1. Scope and Amendments
These Terms of Use apply to both the Company and the User. The Company reserves the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time without prior consent from the User. The updated Terms will take effect upon notification to the User or publication on the Company’s website. Continued use of the Rental Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Rental Equipment
Rental equipment includes any gear listed as available for rent on the La Colina Gear website:

3. Eligibility
To use this Rental Service, Users must:
- Provide valid identification (passport, Japanese driver’s license, or My Number card).
- Make payment using a credit card issued in the User’s name.
The Company reserves the right to restrict or cancel rentals under the following circumstances:
- False or misleading information in the application.
- Mismatch between the name on the identification and the credit card.
- Previous unreturned rental equipment or history of late returns.
- History of delayed or unpaid rental payments.
4. Use of Personal Information
The Company values User privacy and handles personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable privacy laws, including Japan’s Personal Information Protection Law. Please refer to the Privacy Policy here:

5. Payment Methods
Payment for the Rental Service is accepted by credit card via the Company’s website or by invoice issued by the Company.
6. Shipping
- Rental equipment will be shipped to addresses designated by the User within Japan, excluding Okinawa, Kyushu, Shikoku, and remote islands.
- The Company will deliver rental equipment on the agreed start date, and the User must return the equipment by the end date via the method specified by the Company.
- If delivery to the designated address is not feasible, the Company may request an alternate delivery location or cancel the rental.
- The Company is not liable for delays caused by carriers, weather, traffic, or other external factors, nor for any resulting damages.
- Equipment is deemed accepted if no issues are reported within 24 hours of receipt.
7. Return Methods
- Users must return equipment in the provided bag via the designated method to the specified location.
- If an alternative return method is used without prior approval, the User will be responsible for any additional costs.
- Equipment must be shipped back on the last day of the rental period. Users must email the Company a photo of the delivery slip as proof. Returns shipped after this date will incur an additional day’s rental fee.
8. Order Cancellation
- Cancellations made more than 10 days before the rental start date: No charge (excluding credit card processing fees).
- Cancellations made between 5 days and 1 day before the start date: 50% cancellation fee.
- Cancellations on or after the rental start date: 100% cancellation fee.
9. Malfunction and Damage
- If equipment malfunctions or is damaged, the User must stop using it immediately and contact the Company.
- The Company will inspect the equipment and issue further instructions. If costs are incurred, a revised invoice will be issued for payment.
10. Theft and Loss
- In case of theft or loss, the User must promptly inform the Company.
- If the loss or theft is due to the User’s negligence, the User is liable for compensation.
- In case of theft, the User must file a police report and provide a copy to the Company.
11. Rental Period
- The rental period is from the agreed “start date” until the “return date,” which is the date the equipment is handed over to the delivery service.
- Early returns do not entitle the User to any refund or fee reduction.
- Extensions are permitted only with prior approval from the Company.
12. Overdue Returns and Late Fees
- Failure to return the equipment by the agreed return date will result in a late fee equivalent to one additional day’s rental for each day overdue.
- Late fees will continue to accrue until the equipment is returned and confirmed by the Company.
- The Company reserves the right to claim additional damages if late returns cause harm to third parties.
13. Accidents
- In case of an accident while using the rental equipment, the User must immediately notify the Company.
- The User is also responsible for informing the police or relevant authorities if necessary and taking appropriate action.
- If the accident results in damage to the Company or third parties due to User negligence, the User shall bear full liability.
- The Company assumes no responsibility for any settlements related to accidents.
14. Prohibited Activities
Users are prohibited from:
- Transferring or reselling the rental equipment.
- Modifying or altering the equipment, or creating counterfeit versions.
- Allowing third-party use of the equipment.
If any prohibited activity is discovered, the Company reserves the right to demand the immediate return of the equipment and hold the User liable for any damages.
15. Invalidity and Termination
The Company reserves the right to cancel or terminate the rental agreement without notice and demand the immediate return of equipment under the following conditions:
- False information in the rental application.
- Violation of these Terms of Use.
- Payment failure.
- Any other reason deemed inappropriate by the Company.
The Company bears no liability for any damages resulting from such cancellation or termination.
16. Jurisdiction
Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms of Use shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Nagano District Court in Japan.
